Senator Bill Hagerty went on BMAG TV and said the US holds "about 200,000 Bitcoin" in the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve. That is not the number everyone has been citing. The figure on bitcoin treasuries.net, the one repeated for the past year, is 328,372.
There is still no audit. The missing 128,000 or so Bitcoin roughly matches the haul the US claimed from a Chinese pig butchering scam last year, coin that was already fought over before it ever reached the reserve. Either it was never actually added, or coin has been quietly leaving the whole time.
No audit. No custody plan. Just a number that keeps changing depending on who is talking.
